Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls builds and revitalizes homes to secure decent and affordable housing for those in our community that need a helping hand. Thank you for being here. It’s only together that we can build homes, communities and hope.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

We serve the South Dakota counties of Minnehaha, Lincoln and Turner.

People helped

We’re proud to support individuals and families seeking homeownership and affordable home repairs.

Churches and individuals saw a need in our community and the Greater Sioux Falls affiliate was founded.

Households Impacted

From new house builds to rehabilitation projects, we make homeownership attainable and home repairs affordable.

Our Impact

“I love getting to say that I personally helped BUILD my house. I used power tools that I never thought I would be brave enough to use on my own prior. It seemed like a lot of hours having to be put into volunteering for our sweat equity, but it was absolutely worth the hard work!”

Catie, Habitat Homeowner

“I volunteer with Habitat because it’s a great organization. I like knowing that all the sales at the ReStore go to help those who need housing or revitalization. I have always been blessed with a roof over my head, so I’m glad to help others.”

Kari, ReStore Volunteer

“Growing up in my own home meant that I was not different from other people and could have my own house. It reduced stresses like worrying about crazy rent increases and gave our family freedom to cook our cultural foods without getting complaints from anyone.”

Sammie, Child of Habitat Homeowners

“My favorite part about volunteering with Habitat is the comradery I have with other volunteers. It also gives me a renewed sense of purpose. I have been blessed with good health and financial security, so I want to give back.”

Bob, Habitat Volunteer

“It means everything to be a homeowner. We feel safe in our home, and the kids can go outside to play without worrying about traffic. Habitat’s Homeownership program was a great experience with lots of learning, and I truly enjoyed it.”

Liz, Habitat Homeowner

Meet the Homeowners

Our homeowners each have a unique story. They come from different backgrounds, upbringings and cultures. Yet they are united in their common dream of homeownership, and Habitat is proud to help them make that dream a reality.
