The first two homes Habitat rehabbed in partnership with the City of Sioux Falls were sold to Habitat homebuyers! We’re proud of the hard work these families put into our program to accomplish their housing goals. Keep reading to learn more about the new homebuyers and their homes.
Meet Adde

Adde works full-time at a local manufacturing plant and appreciates the good schools and supportive community in Sioux Falls. With the cost of apartments increasing, she’d struggled to find a safe, affordable place that fit her family’s needs.
Adde applied for our Homeownership program in October 2024 and was accepted in April 2025. Now that she’s purchased her home, her family is excited to have more privacy and a backyard where they can safely play.
About Her Home

Adde’s home on Nesmith Ave. was the first home Habitat purchased as part of a rehab pilot project with the City of Sioux Falls. The partnership began to help address vacant and dilapidated houses in core Sioux Falls neighborhoods.
Adde’s home was renovated from floor to roofline to create a safe, affordable and functional home for her family. At Adde’s home dedication on October 20, volunteers who worked on the home at the beginning of the process were blown away by its transformation.
Meet Abdulkadir & Rahima

This couple has called Sioux Falls home for almost two decades, finding the city a quiet place to raise their seven children. Though Abdulkadir and Rahima both have full-time jobs, their large family size made finding affordable housing that met their needs difficult.
When they were accepted into our Homeownership program in April 2025, they were excited to rehab their own home and learn how to install and maintain things. They are grateful to have a stable home in a peaceful neighborhood that’s close to the children’s schools.
About Their Home

This home on Edward Dr. is the second home to be completed through our partnership with the city. A lot of work went into renovating this house from the inside out to become a beautiful, safe home for Abdulkadir and Rahima’s family.

The family that grew up in the home paid Sioux Falls a visit in September and helped us celebrate the new homebuyers with a private home dedication. It was fun to hear their stories in the home and the tips they shared with Abdulkadir and Rahima.
Thank You

Thank you to CNH | Raven, the City of Sioux Falls and our many other individual and business donors who made these homes possible. We’d also like to thank Project Warm-Up for their donation of blankets, First Lutheran Church for their donation of quilts and Ben Reifel Middle School for making welcome home signs.
