Home Sweet Home

What do you think of when someone asks you “what’s it like having your own home?” Some will answer it brings you a sense of peace; others will say a place where you can just be yourself without having to put up a front. Your home becomes a place where memories will be made, holidays will be spent together, delicious food will be prepared, and families grow closer together.

Now put yourself in a different situation, what would it be like if you did not have a place to call your own? You go from one apartment to another, without having a steady home to raise your family. You are wishing for a place to call your own, but a traditional loan is not an option for you. Your dream of owning your home seems to be getting farther and farther away from becoming a reality.  That is a reality for so many families around the Sioux Empire.

Affordable housing is one of the biggest problems facing not just Sioux Falls, but our whole country every single day. With inflation, rising labor cost, rising lumber prices, and so many other factors have increased home prices by almost twenty percent in the last couple of years. A house that someone would have been able to afford three years ago is no longer a reality due to rising inflation. However, thanks to some incredible work after more than a year of work involving many different volunteer groups including students from CTE, contractors, family, and friends. Asha and Saba are finally about to have their dream of owning their own home come true.

Asha and Saba’s new home would not have been possible without the generous donations from Wells Fargo, US Bank, Blue Tide Car Wash, Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, Adams Mastrovich Family Foundation, Xcel Energy, Sioux Valley Energy and so many others from our community.

All are welcome to join us on Friday, November 18th at 11:30 as we dedicate Asha and Saba’s new home. Address: 601 N Daisy Ave. Sioux Falls,
