We build, preserve & advocate for affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls is committed to improving the quality of life, health and economic prosperity of our community through shelter. Eligible residents of Minnehaha, Lincoln and Turner counties are encouraged to apply for our affordable homeownership and repairs programs. By working with Habitat, individuals and families can transform their lives.

Homeownership Program

Homeownership applicants participate in an extensive application process that takes several months for our Family Selection Committee to complete. If an applicant qualifies and is selected, they are invited into partnership. Homebuyer partner households must complete 300 sweat equity hours, including construction labor and homebuyer education classes, before they can purchase their Habitat home. Habitat finances the home sales, providing loans that are affordable for the homebuyer.

Neighborhood Revitalization Program

Homeowners interested in our Neighborhood Revitalization (NR) program also follow an application process. The condition of the owner-occupied house is surveyed and the preservation needs compared to the services we offer. The homeowner reimburses Habitat for the materials and agrees to partner with the volunteers on project day.

About the ReStore

Habitat also supports affordable, stable housing through our ReStore. We sell new and gently used building materials and home goods that have been donated by individuals and corporations. The store is open to the public and sells the items at a fraction of the retail cost. All of our profits go toward supporting our homeownership and repairs programs.
