Expanding Eligibility Guidelines for Veterans and Teachers in 2020

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Two openings in Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls’s next construction season will be reserved for a qualifying teacher and a qualifying veteran. In the upcoming 2020 application drive, Habitat is expanding income guidelines for eligible veterans and teachers. For all other construction openings, general eligibility income requirements will apply.

Selection criteria for the homeownership program is based on need, ability to pay and willingness to partner with Habitat. When evaluating need, Habitat uses the current HUD Income Limits for Sioux Falls, SD, MSA. Habitat serves applicants who are within 30% to 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) based on their household size. The income limit will be expanded up to 80% of AMI for eligible teachers and veterans, to remove any barriers for serving these applicants who may be struggling to find decent and affordable housing.
